My Approach

Tess completed her undergraduate studies in psychology in 2014 before undertaking two years of postgraduate training in psychotherapy and holistic counselling. She later returned to complete a Master of Psychology at Curtin University in Western Australia. Across her diverse training and clinical experience, Tess has developed a deep appreciation for the transformative potential of therapy when grounded in genuine connection, safe attachment, and deep compassion.

Her work integrates the strength of the therapeutic relationship with evidence-based interventions and holistic health principles to foster self-acceptance, aid recovery, and enhance overall wellbeing. A lifelong practitioner of yoga, Tess has completed extensive training in its philosophy and practice. This background informs her understanding of embodiment, mindfulness, and presence, underpinning the integrative and holistic nature of her psychological approach.

Areas of Interest

Tess supports clients experiencing a broad range of psychological and emotional challenges, with particular expertise in eating disorders, body-image concerns, and body dysmorphia. She recognises the complex relationship between eating and body-related struggles and other aspects of identity, and frequently works with clients across diverse genders, sexualities, and neurotypes. Tess also enjoys supporting clients exploring identity, attachment patterns, interpersonal difficulties, shame, anxiety, perfectionism, and life transitions.

Therapeutic Approach

Tess’s therapeutic style is integrative and informed by psychodynamic and process-oriented ways of understanding human experience. Guided by social-justice principles, her practice is firmly weight-inclusive, trauma-informed, gender-affirming, and neuro-affirming. She brings warmth, curiosity, and sincerity to the therapeutic space, fostering an atmosphere of safety, trust, and openness.

Tess tailors her approach to the unique needs and intentions of each individual. Drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities, she supports meaningful, lasting change through deep reflection and emotional insight.

Values & Inclusivity

With awareness of her positionality as a white, able-bodied, cisgender woman, Tess remains attuned to the challenges and microaggressions experienced by those from marginalised communities. She is committed to providing an inclusive, affirming therapeutic environment for all individuals—particularly those who may feel unseen or unsupported in traditional healthcare settings.
